College of Charleston – Harbor Walk Renovations

Trident Construction collaborated with the College of Charleston to modify over 50 percent of the Harbor Walk commercial property to serve the growing needs of the Biology, Physics, Astronomy, and Computer Science programs. Improvements included lecture halls, classrooms, laboratories, offices, dedicated study areas, and student lounges.

Trident Construction worked on the original renovation of the building in 1999 when it was converted from a historic power plant into a commercial and retail office center. The building renovation and expansion included parking below the building, an IMAX Theater, a food court with commercial kitchens, Class-A offices, a restaurant, and flexible floor plan to accommodate up to 20 separate retail shops.

Harriett Starr Mason Preparatory Lower School

Using our proven TEAM BUILD process, Trident Construction was selected to construct the new 14,000 SF lower school building at Mason Preparatory School. The building features eight technology-equipped classrooms for grades K-2; a multipurpose/lunch room; a courtyard and balcony for outdoor learning space; light-filled stairwells; a new playground; a teacher workroom/breakroom overlooking the Charleston harbor; a common learning area with dry-erase walls and rearrangeable furniture for small group collaboration; and a ground floor parking garage for visitors and teachers. The classrooms are 40% larger than previous rooms and feature large windows and bright accent colors.

Using our TEAM BUILD process, Trident Construction and Red Iron Architects collaborated on the second phase for the new Northwood Academy at Carnes Crossroads. The 41,000 SF Lower School (Grades K-5) includes 18 classrooms, cafeteria with serving kitchen, gymnasium, media room, art room, music room, and administrative/office space. The Lower School was designed to seamlessly tie into the recently completed Upper School.

The Lower School project also includes a complete build-out of athletic playing fields, practice spaces, and support structures.

Trident Construction teamed with Northwood Academy to construct the new 57,000 SF Upper School at the Carnes Crossroads campus. The Upper School (Grades 6-12) includes 23 classrooms, a cafeteria, a gymnasium, locker rooms, a media room, a computer lab, and administrative/office space. The school is oriented along several axes to maximize space on the site and coordinate with the existing Northwood Church and Phase II Lower School building.

The Charleston Southern University Singleton Baseball Complex includes a two story 3,500-square-foot building, a memorial plaza and a stadium courtyard. The complex houses a locker room, coach offices, a training room and the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Enrichment Center.

Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, mother of graduated baseball player, Chris Singleton, was killed June 17, 2015, in the tragic Emanuel AME shooting. The Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Enrichment Center will celebrate her life and legacy and will serve as a gathering space for athletes to learn and grow spiritually and academically.
