Trident Construction is currently building the Archer School Apartments project. This project aims to convert the historic Henry P. Archer School into 89 homes for seniors in Charleston.

This project began when Humanities Foundation bought the vacant Archer School in 2020. Humanities Foundation is working with partners such as JDC Management, Martin Riley Associates, Bello Garris Architects, Design Works, and Trident Construction.

The team aims to complete the Archer School Apartments project in early 2024. By converting the Archer School, the project team hopes to address the demand for affordable housing and preserve a well-loved community landmark. This project will create a much-needed resource for long-time residents of Downtown Charleston’s East Side neighborhood.

Trident Construction is currently providing our proven TEAM BUILD process for 22 WestEdge, a world-class, eight-story office building located in Charleston’s “Discovery District”. The first floor will consist of 15,750 SF of retail space and the upper seven floors of office will encompass 138,500 SF of class A office with unparalleled views of the city and the Ashley River.

WestEdge is a 50-acre urban infill project jointly led by the City of Charleston and the Medical University of South Carolina through the Horizon Project Foundation, Inc. The development plan calls for nearly three million square feet of residential, research, office, parking garages, and retail space along the Ashley River site.

The five story building includes 92 units for both assisted living and memory care residents. The facility includes onsite parking, a full cafeteria, a bistro and amenities including a salon, theatre and activity center.
By providing design and engineering options, Trident Construction’s proven Smart Choice process allows our clients the greatest control over cost, building performance and material selection. Over 44 Smart Choice options were provided totaling $2.7 million in project cost savings.

Inspired by the design of St. Clare’s Basilica in Assisi, Italy, the church is one of the most ornate buildings to have been built in Charleston in the last 100 years. The church was constructed to serve the Daniel Island and Cainhoy communities for centuries with plans to expand in the near future. These plans include adding offices and a large parish hall.

Low Country Case and Millwork is located within the Carolina Commerce Park in North Charleston. Our repeat client engaged Trident Construction to employ our TEAM BUILD services which included design and construction of a new 52,000 SF industrial manufacturing facility, warehouse and corporate office.

Through SMART CHOICE options, our client selected tilt wall construction as a cost effective solution to convention industrial wall systems. This choice saved both construction time and money. Additionally, through programming, the client selected a 20-foot clear height which provides long term savings on operation cost for heating and cooling the building. Savings identified during the SMART CHOICE process allowed our client to invest in a state-of-the-art waste wood recovery system.
