First Baptist School – High School

To accommodate the growing needs of First Baptist’s flourishing upper school program, Trident Construction was hired to provide our Team Build services for a new state-of-the-art high school on the James Island Campus. The new high school building is conveniently located adjacent to the new gym and athletic fields and is equipped with modern science labs, spacious classrooms, a clinic, counseling center, and faculty and staff offices.

Porter Gaud – Upper School

Porter Gaud’s new Upper School building serves as the “front door” of the campus and consists of 24 classrooms, administrative and office space, and a media center. Located adjacent to the existing Senior parking lot, the Upper School defines a new courtyard area between the Science and Technology Building, Wendell Center and the carpool lane.

Trident Construction was selected to work with the school and design team to coordinate a three-phase renovation and new construction program. The first phase includes the interior renovations of the lower school which took place over the summer break. Phase two includes the relocation of the historic Moore House.

Most recently, Trident Construction completed the third phase which included the construction of a new three-story science and technology addition. The 13,000 SF science and technology center features classrooms, a reception area, restrooms, a library, a teacher’s lounge, and a school supply store.

In order to keep up with the growing College of Health Science program, Trident Construction was selected to construct the new Health Sciences Building. The new facility is the latest housing project on campus in over 30 years and will have three floors and 204 beds to accommodate the ever-growing student population. The residence hall will also include:

» Large multi-purpose activity room
» Outdoor courtyard/pavilion

Embracing LEED design elements, this project includes classrooms for children age two to six years old, cafeteria, gathering spaces, offices, and age appropriate playgrounds. Energy saving features included incorporating day-lighting techniques and geothermal heating and cooling. Located on Daniel Island, this award winning design is a significant asset to this new traditional style neighborhood.

Embracing principles of Montessori learning, this project includes classrooms for children grades K-6, community space, a loft library, and offices. By closely monitoring subcontractor activities and coordinating the Owner’s specialty contractors, Trident Construction was able to reduce a 14 month phased construction schedule to seven months.

Located in North Charleston, South Carolina, this LEED® Silver certified public elementary school includes classrooms, library, multi-purpose room, full-service cafeteria/auditorium, and a playground.

As the first LEED certified elementary school in the state of South Carolina, this award winning project features a water recover system, ice storage system for cooling, day-light harvesting techniques, environmentally friendly materials, and energy efficient systems.

College of Charleston – Harbor Walk Renovations

College of Charleston – Harbor Walk Renovations

Charleston, SC

Trident Construction collaborated with the College of Charleston to modify over 50 percent of the Harbor Walk commercial property to serve the growing needs of the Biology, Physics, Astronomy, and Computer Science programs. Improvements included lecture halls, classrooms, laboratories, offices, dedicated study areas, and student lounges.

Trident Construction worked on the original renovation of the building in 1999 when it was converted from a historic power plant into a commercial and retail office center. The building renovation and expansion included parking below the building, an IMAX Theater, a food court with commercial kitchens, Class-A offices, a restaurant, and flexible floor plan to accommodate up to 20 separate retail shops.

Harriett Starr Mason Preparatory Lower School

Using our proven TEAM BUILD process, Trident Construction was selected to construct the new 14,000 SF lower school building at Mason Preparatory School. The building features eight technology-equipped classrooms for grades K-2; a multipurpose/lunch room; a courtyard and balcony for outdoor learning space; light-filled stairwells; a new playground; a teacher workroom/breakroom overlooking the Charleston harbor; a common learning area with dry-erase walls and rearrangeable furniture for small group collaboration; and a ground floor parking garage for visitors and teachers. The classrooms are 40% larger than previous rooms and feature large windows and bright accent colors.
